The Main Measured Parameters by Arteriograph
1. Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV)
Pulse wave velocity (PWV) in general is the speed at which pulse travels through the arteries. It is an indicator of arterial stiffening. Fast PWV is an early sign of remodelling and functional changes in arterial hemodynamic, and a marker of cardiovascular ageing.
2. Central Blood Pressure (CBP)
Central Blood Pressure (CBP) has been shown to more strongly relate to vascular disease and outcome than traditional upper arm blood measurement. Important details can be found here.
3. Augmentation Index (AIx)
Augmentation index (AIx) is based on reflection of pulse-wave and measures the enhancement of forward or first pressure wave by its reflection. It is proven to be an indicator of endothelial function and a detector of Atherosclerosis.
4. Arterial Stiffness
Arterial stiffness is the increased rigidity of the artery wall that can occur in association with increased age and/or various diseases eg. hypertension, diabetes etc. It is a risk factor for cardiovascular events. Dive into this section for in-depth details.
5. Arterial Age
Arterial age is based on the Aortic Pulse Wave Velocity (PWVao) value and it is assessed using approximately 10000 measurements based on internal database of TensioMed.
